Visualising exposure to dust and physical strains in mining
Dangers to health by reason of exposure to dust is a contemporary issue in various industries. The PIMEX system provides means for exposure visualisation that establish a basis for an efficient analysis and assessment of risks in this context.
Exposure to dust and physical strains of workers in mining were investigated in the course of a PIMEX intervention during a disaster training in an Austrian mine. kohs.biomonitoring devices were attached to a fire-fighter and a test person from the mine rescue brigade in order to log ECG. The alveolar, thoracic and respirable fraction of airborne particulate matter were recorded by a direct-reading instrument (Hund Respicon TM).
